The extensive renovations involved the updating of 215 independent living apartments, 133 independent living cottages, and over 90 skilled support units, as well as the first floors’ dining room, lounge area, and corridors.

The focus of the renovation was to bring light and openness to the residents and their living environment, along with an update in finishings and lighting. Mulá Architects opted for subtle dividers rather than walls as to not impact the penetration of natural light. In addition, the redesign of the restaurant and lounge, The Round and Coffee & Cork, were updated and designed to be accessible to the public, a feature that engages the community with the residents and further enhances the living experience provided by Muhlenberg Townhomes.
